Queen Elizabeth Is Hiring a New Housekeeping Assistant—Here's What You Need to Know
Grab a mop and broom and get ready to move into Buckingham Palace.
Do you dream about quitting your day job and following in the footsteps of Marie Kondo or Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin of The Home Edit? Does organizing and reorganizing thrill your heart to no end? Have you ever fantasized about living in London like royalty? You may just be the person for a new position at Buckingham Palace—a housekeeping assistant to Queen Elizabeth, to be specific. The housekeeping assistant is expected to have an interest in hospitality, but is not required to have professional cleaning experience. "We're more interested in your proactive approach and ability to tackle new challenges," according to the job description.
The housekeeping assistant will report to the Master of the Household's Office. The housekeeping assistant will "upkeep, clean and care for a wide range of interiors and items, ensuring they're presented to their very best." The role will also involve front-of-house support during functions and events, as well as interactions with guests. "This is your opportunity to use your enthusiasm and interest in hospitality to deliver the exceptional."
The full-time role will either be based in London, presumably at Buckingham Palace, or Windsor Castle but travel to other royal residences will be expected. But just like the royals, you may need some time off, which is why the position also includes 33 vacation days (including Bank holidays), a 15% employer contribution pension scheme, training and professional development, and the option to live on property. That's right—you could live in Buckingham Palace!
Job applications are due on September 15th and interviews will be scheduled for October 2nd. So tidy up your resume now—the Queen is waiting!
