Spicy Cocktail Sauce

This easy homemade cocktail sauce is best made with fresh horseradish root. If you can't find it, substitute an equal amount of drained prepared horseradish. And be sure to try the spicy sauce with our Popcorn Shrimp.


  • ¾ cup ketchup

  • 3 tablespoons finely grated fresh horseradish, plus more to taste

  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

  • A few dashes of hot sauce (optional)

  • Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper


  1. In a bowl, stir together first four ingredients; season generously with salt and pepper. Stir in more horseradish, a little at a time, to taste. Serve immediately or refrigerate in an airtight container up to 1 week.
