How to do it

Step 1

For the skirt: Cut 1/2 yard of iridescent vinyl fabric to twice the waist measurement. Fold over the top of the fabric 1 inch and sew a channel for the elastic, leaving a 2-inch opening on one side.

Step 2

Feed the elastic through the opening and throughout the channel. Sew the ends of the elastic together and then finish sewing up the channel.

Step 3

For the shirt: Use the template to cut the alien symbols from the iridescent vinyl using a vinyl cutting machine. Remove the negative space and cut out the alien symbols and iron onto the shirt in an abstract pattern. Remove the plastic backing from the iron-on symbols.

Step 4

For the alien antennae: Twist the pipe cleaners into a headband, then twist on two curly-shaped pieces.

Step 5

Pair the costume with iridescent leggings, sunglasses, and even a silver painted dome umbrella to act as the hovering spaceship.
