Queen Elizabeth's Former Villa in Malta Is for Sale
You could live like a royal.
If you've ever dreamed of living just like Queen Elizabeth, now's your chance. All you need is $6.7 million to do it.
The Queen's one-time villa, Villa Guardamangia, located in Malta, is officially for sale. According to The Telegraph, the palazzo-style mansion nestled in the outskirts of the Maltese capital Valletta, served as an official royal residence immediately after Elizabeth's marriage to Prince Phillip.
At the time, The Telegraph explained, the then-princess was not only a senior member of the royal family but also a Navy wife to her new husband. So, she lived in Malta on and off from 1949 and 1951 while Philip served in the Royal Navy Mediterranean Fleet. It was a place the Queen herself remembered fondly during a trip to Malta in 2015.
"Visiting Malta is always very special for me," she said. "I remember happy days here with Prince Philip when we were first married."
During the trip, the former Maltese president Marie Louise Coleiro presented her and the Duke of Edinburgh with a watercolor of their one-time villa, The Telegraph noted.
The home, built in 1900 still comes with six bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a grand "sala nobile" living room. It also has various guest quarters and servant quarters. The property, The Telegraph added, has "great historical value" according to estate agents Homes of Quality. It also comes with stunning ocean views over Marsamxett Harbor.
The villa's listing also noted the home's spacious interior rooms along with its high ceilings. It added, "The main house is further complemented with stables, various guest/servant quarters, cellars, shelter etc. The property is just crying out for a great conversion and will make a superb residence or possibly a commercial venue."
