Martha Makes a Cameo on "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" and Reveals Her Favorite Lunch Order
Martha has written dozens of cookbooks and shared hundreds of recipes over the years, but if you've ever wondered what her favorite meal to eat is, you're in luck. This week, our founder appears on the Cooking Channel's The Best Thing I Ever Ate and talks about one of the lunch dishes that she finds most delicious.
The show, which highlights the meals that the biggest names in the food industry enjoy on their days off, tackles lunch on its latest episode. Martha will appear alongside the Cooking Channel's Ali Khan, host of Cheap Eats, and Food Network's Jernard Wells, who highlight the best lunchtime eats in Austin and Atlanta, respectively.
Martha's favorite lunch, however, is served in the heart of Manhattan and is a fun spin on traditional Mediterranean flavors. "On a recent foray uptown, I was invited to lunch at Milos to eat this fabulous tower," Martha says in the episode, speaking of Estiatorio Milos, part of an upscale collection of modern Greek restaurants that are spread across New York, Miami, Las Vegas, Montreal, London, and Athens.
Martha says her favorite dish to order there is a tower of thinly shaved zucchini and eggplant, fried to perfection before being plated in spectacular fashion. "It's very thin slices of fried eggplant and zucchini, and underneath, there's a tzatziki sauce," Martha says of the meal. "And then fried cheese all around. So, it's quite amazing." The dish-which is apparently known as the "Milos special"-is a delicious way to tuck into a plate of fresh vegetables and sounds like the ultimate lunch to us, too.
She's actually been enjoying some version of this meal for years. While working on Wall Street in the late 60s and 70s, Martha says she first fell in love with the combination of zucchini and eggplant after eating a similar dish at one of her favorite restaurants on Water Street.
