End-of-the-Rainbow Cookies

Recipe photo courtesy of Johnny Fogg

Layers of different-colored dough are rolled into a log for these slice-and-bake rainbows. They're baked and halved into arcs while warm, then the lucky pots of gold are added. Allow time for chilling and freezing the dough, the actual hands-on cookie making and baking takes just over an hour.

Super cute cookies but unfortunately the cook time was WAY off and they really don’t taste good. Around 10 minutes is a more accurate time . I would use a different cookie recipe next time.

Cute idea. Use the idea - don't use this recipe. The dough is terrible. So sticky it's almost impossible to work with. The cookies spread a lot too. I thought with the milk in the batter they might be sticky and I was right. I regret that I did not use my usual spritz dough or something similar. My cookies tasted ok but were not as cute as these (my colors were too bright). The result was more like a tie-dyed rainbow so I went with it and glazed them and added small colored hearts. Also there is no way those cooking times are correct. Don't they test these recipes?

The cookies look very cute. It's a lot of effort to make which I didn't mine since I hadn't tried something like this before. BUT, the cookie has a horrible flavor (almost non-existent) and bad texture. Find a better cookie recipe and use the rollout and decorating instructions instead. Bummed.

I haven't made these, but I also think this is the type of recipe it would be helpful to have a video on to understand the rolling out with the rod part. . . .
