No-Bake Chocolate-Eggnog Creme Brulee

No oven time or fussy water bath for this streamlined creme brulee! It pairs traditional eggnog spices with decadent dark chocolate and is fully cooked on the stovetop. Finish with a kitchen torch for the customary caramelized topping.

Cook's Notes

Get a head start by completing step 1 and refrigerating the ramekins for up to two days.

To get a perfectly crackly, caramelized top, we sprinkle on sugar and use the Iwatani Chef torch, which has a wide flame for quick, even toasting.

    Once I added the chocolate to the hot custard I ended up with a lot of oily residue in the pudding. I shall try and dab it off but can't afford to make it again with all those eggs, cream etc. With then servings this is obviously for a party and I hope it's not embarrassing to serve. Very upset and disappointed. And yes, it does look more like chocolate pudding than a Brûlée custard.

    This was meh. It was easy to make, but it's not creme brûlée-ey at all. In fact, it's kind of grainy, and really more like a chocolate pudding. I would not go through the effort of making this again.
