Part 1

Step 1

Cut cotton flannel in half lengthwise (our material is 44 inches wide; plaids and stripes make it a cinch to snip a straight line).

Fray the edges by pulling out a string until you have an inch of fringe on the short sides and about a quarter-inch on the long sides.
