Martha Stewart's Stenciled Mother's Day Banner

Who's the guest of honor? Mom, of course. So spell it out for her on this DIY display. She'll love the personal gesture (and you'll love how easy it is to put together).

steps

  1. On two pieces of the Mint & Blush Canvas Banner, apply first layer of butterfly designs. Stencil using Meyer Lemon paint over the designs using the stencil brush; let dry. Stencil the coordinating second stencil layer using Wedding Cake paint; let dry.

  2. Angle and stencil the medium-sized butterfly layer using Meyer Lemon paint on two white banners; let dry. Stencil the coordinating second stencil layer using Beach Glass paint; let dry.

  3. Repeat step 2 on the same banner pieces with the small butterfly stencil.

  4. Using the patterning tape, apply three strips of tape across the top of three white banners. Leaving 1/8-inch between the first two strips and 1/4-inch between the second and third strip.

  5. Using the stencil brush, paint the top open strip using Beach Glass paint and the second using Meyer Lemon paint; let dry.

  6. On the striped banners, stencil the letters M, O, M from the Monogram Serif stencil set using Beach Glass paint; let dry.
