This idea comes from our contributor Anusha Rajeswaran. Essential oils — extracted from leaves, fruit peels, petals, and other plant parts — capture nature's subtle fragrances and can refresh your living space. You can mix and match essential oils for a signature scent: try combinations like wild orange and tea tree, lavender and rose, or clean and simple green tea and cucumber.

How to do it

Part 1

natural room spray
Step 1

Pour 25 to 30 drops of essential oil in your bottle.

Step 2

Fill the bottle halfway with witch hazel. (Note: Witch hazel helps the oil and water combine and will help the scent linger for a longer period of time.)

Step 3

Fill the rest of the bottle with distilled water. This ratio works pretty well no matter the size of the bottle.

Step 4

Shake bottle to combine all the ingredients.

Step 5

Difficulty: Very Easy
Recipe doesn't make sense as it does not mention the size of bottle used. 25-30 drops of essential oil in a 2 oz. bottle is a way different ratio/concentration than if the bottle is 16 oz. Better editing and proofreading necessary Martha Stewart staff!
