Martha's Maple Leaf Cookies Couldn't Be More Beautiful (Or Delicious!)
The cream-filled Canadian specialty is just one of the treats featured on "Martha Bakes" this week.
Martha's staying relatively close to home for the latest stop on her "Martha Bakes" world cookie tour. The farthest she'll be traveling for inspiration is Canada, for her maple cream sandwich cookies (they're even shaped like maple leaves in honor of the Canadian national symbol!). The rest of the episode will be dedicated to two all-American treats: chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal-raisin cookies. Martha's baked so many iterations of both over the years, but she's not one for resting on her laurels-she's always tinkering with and further perfecting the recipes in her arsenal. Get an exclusive early look at her next-level recipes below, and be sure to tune in this weekend to watch Martha in action.
MAPLE CREAM SANDWICH COOKIES
Rich maple cream is sandwiched between leaf-shaped cutouts of maple shortbread for these striking cookies. If you're making them in the fall, follow Martha's lead and garnish with actual maple leaves for a truly eye-catching presentation.
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
What makes this new recipe one of Martha's all-time favorites? It strikes the ideal balance between crisp and chewy and has way more chocolate chips in the batter than your average cookie-we're talking almost 5 cups' worth in a batch!
GIANT OATMEAL-RAISIN COOKIES
When Martha says giant, she means business-this cookie almost takes up an entire plate! Another twist: raisins in a spectrum of hues-dark, golden, and Monukka-are distributed throughout.
"Martha Bakes" season 9 airs on PBS stations nationwide (check local listings).
