When shopping for materials, consider the size of your miniature easels for amount of chalk needed. Here, a single wood easel measuring 3.5-by-2.5-by-0.2 inches neatly fits three sticks of chalk.

  • Chalkboard paint (Pictured: Martha Stewart Crafts Multi-Surface Chalkboard Acrylic Paint, $2.49 for 2 oz.,

  • Rectangle wood shapes (Pictured: Rectangle Cedar Wood Shape by ArtMinds, $1.29 each,

  • Colored chalk

  • Foam brush

  • Paint palette

  • Scissors

  • Hole punch

  • Baker's twine


  1. Paint wood board in 1-2 coats of chalkboard paint; set aside to let dry completely.

  2. Print clip-art on white paper; cut out. Punch a hole in one corner of tag, and thread with twine. 

  3. Tie a few sticks of chalk to mini chalkboard easel, securing with twine.
