Stone Tile Trivet

They're just the right size (12 by 12 inches) for the large serving vessels used for holidays.

  • Tile (Pictured: Natural Stone Collection marble floor and wall tile, 12" by 12", in China Black, $6.50 each, homedepot.com)

  • Cork (Pictured: Avskild place mat, $4 for 4, ikea.com)

  • Craft paint (Pictured: Multisurface Satin craft paint, by Martha Stewart Crafts, $2 for 2 oz., michaels.com)

  • Craft knife

  1. To make, trace a tile onto a piece of 1/8-inch cork (we used inexpensive place mats) with a pencil; cut out with a craft knife.

  2. Paint the edge of the cork with bright craft paint.

  3. Stick the cork to the tile's underside with spray adhesive, such as 3M Super 77; let dry.
