These Are the Cookies Martha's Baking for Her Holiday Party This Year
There's chocolate chip, molasses spice, pistachio shortbread, and of course classic sugar cookies -- a treat for every kind of sweet tooth.
Martha's annual holiday party wouldn't be complete without oodles of cookies, and this year is no exception. More than a hundred guests of all ages will be in attendance, so she's making four types of cookies, each with a different flavor profile that's both kid-friendly and sophisticated enough for the adults. First up is a perennial crowd-pleaser: sugar cookies. Martha keeps the decoration simple -- they're topped with pools of royal icing -- but gives the cookies a next-level presentation. They're served on elegant pink milk-glass cake stands (those pedestals aren't just for cakes!) that match her vintage tree.
Chocolate chip cookies are also a must, and Martha's daughter Alexis is famous for her rendition. Thin, crisp, and utterly irresistible, they're bound to become your most requested recipe, too. On the other end of the texture spectrum are Martha's chewy molasses spice cookies, fragrant with cinnamon and nutmeg. A batch of pistachio-shortbread wreaths completes the cookie buffet table -- not only are the shapes super festive, but the recipe also couldn't be easier (it only calls for five ingredients!). Whether you're baking for your holiday party or a cookie swap, you can't go wrong with any of these recipes, or better yet, all four!
