Apple Glass-Etched Carafe

Adorn a glass carafe with a fall-friendly motif — we chose an apple — then use it to serve cider all autumn long. The etched vessel also makes a pretty hostess gift for fall get-togethers.

  • Martha Stewart Crafts Glass Etch Cream & Brush, $30 for 5.96 oz., michaels.com
  • Glass carafe
  • Adhesive stencil film
  • Scissors
  • Latex gloves

steps

  1. Download the template and cut out.
  2. Trace apple onto grid side of stencil paper; cut out, leaving a 4-inch square around cutout intact.
  3. Peel backing off stencil paper and adhere to a carafe.
  4. With a paintbrush, apply a thick layer of etching cream, filling in apple; let sit for 20 minutes.
  5. Wearing latex gloves, hold carafe under cool running water and wipe away cream. Remove stencil.
