Puffy Paint Easter Eggs

Swiss dots usually appear on sheer tulle or cotton. Get the same effect on your eggs by decorating with puffy paint.

  • Eggs

  • Batik egg dyes, in Rose, Sunflower, and Orange, $1.50 each,

  • McCormick food color & egg dye, in assorted colors, $3.75 for a set of 4,

  • Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint Mini Writers, in assorted colors, $16 for 30,

  • White vinegar

  • Water

  • Bowl for dye bath


  1. For even dyeing, first submerge eggs in a mixture of two to three tablespoons of white vinegar and one cup of water for a minute or two, then pat dry.
  2. Dye eggs in soft colors, then add tactile 3-D dots with fabric puffy paint.
  3. Optional: Set eggs on pin-board (a foam board with a grid of pins) to dry.
