Cookies, cakes, and sweet treats served in a cup are all the rage these days — so why not craft your friends a vessel specifically for the purpose of single-serving baking?

Introduction

This idea comes from our friend Rebekah Lowin. With your favorite recipe written on the outside and the dry ingredients nestled on the inside, this is the perfect Valentine's Day gift to warm their hearts (and leave them craving more).

materials

  • Dry ingredients for your cookie recipe of choice
  • White microwave-safe mug
  • Oil-based paint Sharpie markers, $19.99 per pack of 5, joann.com

  • Pink ribbon

steps

  1. Using a Sharpie marker, write your mug recipe of choice on the side of the vessel (along with any cute quotes or puns you'd like to include); let dry at least 3 hours.
  2. Put mug in the oven and preheat to 350°F; bake for 30 minutes. Turn off the oven and leave the mug inside to cool completely.
  3. Compile dry ingredients and separate into small cellophane bags, tying each with a short length of ribbon. Place each bag inside mug, and it's ready to be gifted. (Tip: Notify your recipient that the mug should be washed by hand, not in the dishwasher.)
