steps

  1. Fold ribbon to make a clean edge; wrap the ribbon around your mug and bend were you would like it to end. Leave a 1/4 inch for the folded clean edge and cut. Hot-glue folded ends in.

  2. Line up ribbon on felt and hot glue the center down; cut felt to leave the desired border.

  3. Sew a button on one end of the ribbon only, then glue the ribbon to the felt on the side where you just sewed the button.

  4. On the opposite side of your cozy, get an idea of how much elastic you need by modeling your felt and ribbon over the mug. Hold down the elastic with your thumb overlapping the felt about one inch. Take the elastic around the button and right back to your thumb making the elastic somewhat taut. Cut the elastic and hot glue the two ends in-between the felt and ribbon.
