Leonardo DiCaprio: Trying to Save the World by Letting You Vacation with Him
The movie-star-slash-heart-throb plans to revitalize the ecosystem on his private island and build a luxurious new resort.
If you needed another reason to love Leonardo DiCaprio, here it is. The 42-year-old actor recently announced that he will be turning his private island, Blackadore Caye, into a luxury eco-resort and revitalizing the surrounding ecosystem in the process.
DiCaprio's island is located in Belize, and over the next few years, it will undergo "restorative development," a process that Restorative Islands describes as "a development completely powered by renewable energy and designed to increase the biological health of species on the island and in the waters around it." Once complete, the resort will feature bungalows and estate homes for visitors to rent, and half the island will remain a wildlife preserve.
This is just one more way that DiCaprio is working to save the world -- through the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, he's also been working to protect endangered species, clean up the oceans and restore wildlands.
