Ash Ketchum Costume

Ready to be a Pokémon trainer? We repurposed a set of kids clothes using a few household supplies to transform a trick-or-treater into the cartoon hero.

This costume idea comes from our friends at Primary.com. Using simple garments such as a polo shirt and baseball hat ensures that the costume is measured to fit perfectly. The rest is simply add-ons! When shopping for crafting supplies, check out your local dime store: they will have most items on the list of materials.

Instructions

  1. Ash Ketchum Costume

To make the jacket: Cut the sleeves off of the hoodie. Cut two strips of yellow felt for the pockets and attach them with the hot glue gun. Cut out a small circle and glue it to the chest of the hoodie.

  2. Ash Ketchum Costume

To make the hat: Draw an Ash logo onto dark green felt and cut out. Glue the logo to the hat.

  3. Ash Ketchum Costume

To make the gloves: Cut the fingers from the gloves. Cut two strips of light green felt. (Tip: Since felt doesn't stretch, let your child put the gloves on first before pinning the felt strips into circular cuffs for the gloves.)

  4. To assemble the costume, put on the pants and the polo first, then layer the t-shirt over the polo. (Tip: We rolled up the sleeves of the t-shirt so that the white sleeves of the polo would show.) Add your hoodie, hat, and gloves, and you're all set!
