Introduction

Appliqués and embroidered patches can be ironed onto almost any item in your closet. Think: sweaters, jeans, bags, blouses, shoes, skirts, even a cashmere hat such as this one. Make your own one-of-a-kind accessory (and make a fabulous fashion statement all at once).

materials

  • Iron-on studs, $4 for 12, Toho Shoji, 212-868-7465.
  • Fabric glue
  • Sewing thread and needle

steps

  1. Attach vintage bullion appliqués with fabric glue and iron-on metal studs to a vintage cashmere hat.

  2. For extra hold, secure the appliqués by sewing a few stitches. (Tip: To wash a bedazzled hat, dry cleaning is best.)
