From beautiful fall foliage to delicious flavors of the season, autumn is full of activities, decorations, and recipes we can't wait to enjoy. Whether you live in a bustling metropolis or have sprawling space in the suburbs, there's guaranteed to be a fall activity for you. Ahead, we're sharing some of the things we're most excited to do once the weather turns crisp; let our ideas inspire your own seasonal activities.

Festive DIY Projects

There are so many ways to prepare for autumn, with its crisp, cool weather and changing leaves. Some of our favorite projects of the entire year are geared towards the season. From knitting projects to decorative DIYs, there's something for every level of crafter. To start, we can't wait to knit a cozy scarf and mittens. If you love a good DIY as much as we do, then you know Halloween is a great time for crafting. Whether you make our own Halloween costume, choose from one of our decorative pumpkin carving how-tos, or gear up for Halloween with one of our spooky decorations, like our Haunted Mirror with Ghost Hands—you can't go wrong. There's something for the little ones, too. Corral the kids and create leaf-inspired crafts, like our Colorful Pasta-and-Leaf Leis. And we can't forget about Thanksgiving! Give thanks ahead of the holiday by making our our Stenciled "Thankful" Sign.

Seasonal Flavors

Few flavors are as synonymous with a season as pumpkin is with fall. The fruit (yes, it's actually a fruit!) takes center stage in a number of our favorite dishes. A great way to start the first fall morning of the year is by whipping up a classic Pumpkin Spice Latte. You'll get double points if you pair yours with Pumpkin Pie French Toast—trust us, it's just as decadent and delicious as it sounds. But pumpkin isn't the only flavor of the season. Butternut squash, another fall favorite, makes for a delicious side dish, main, or even appetizer. Of course, apples are another go-to; apple pie takes the cake for a universal fall dessert favorite. We can't wait to make a classic Old-Fashioned Apple Pie, hot Apple Cider, and our Apple Cider Donuts. If you're making the latter, be sure to double the batch. They'll go quickly because they really are that good.

Outdoor Outings

After a long, hot summer one of our favorite things to do is simply enjoy the cool weather and the great outdoors. The season has two of the most anticipated holidays for kids and adults: Halloween and Thanksgiving. Gearing up for these special days involves a slew of outdoor to-dos. Head to your local pumpkin patch but be sure to know what kind of pumpkins to get for all of your fall décor needs. Take a drive to view all of the gorgeous fall foliage. Collect fallen leaves for leaf-based crafts. Go apple picking and retrieve fresh, sweet, tangy apples for all of your favorite apple recipes.

Updating Our Décor

Fall decorations run the gamut. From subtle displays that delight the senses to more apparent changes like seasonal decorations, we can't wait to get our homes ready for the season. First up on our decorating list: creating gorgeous fall floral centerpieces. We're also excited to place fall scented candles around our rooms to get whiffs of the season. No autumn décor is complete without a breathtaking Thanksgiving tablescape; gathering around a gorgeous dinner table decked out for the season is just another reason to look forward to fall.
