How to Make Origami Planter Covers

Looking to add a bit of flair to your household plants? These faceted paper covers are folded in five simple steps.

What You'll Need

Materials

  • Planter Cover Template
  • Martha Stewart Scoring Board Set
  • Ruler
  • Cardstock
  • Double-sided tape

Instructions

  1. Trim your cardstock to two pieces, measuring 4.5" x 9." Align one piece of cardstock horizontally on the scoring board and start scoring vertical lines every ½ inch.

  2. planters

    Align the cardstock so that the top lefthand corner lines up with the bottom 2-inch mark. Score this line, and continue to score parallel lines every inch. Flip the cardstock 180 degrees and repeat.

    Fold all of the scored lines (vertical and diagonal) to one side.

    At the ½-inch mark from one edge, pinch all of the vertical lines inward so that the diagonal lines fold outward. (Tip: This may take some patience, be sure to use both hands to hold the cardstock while folding!)

  5. planters

    Repeat steps 1-4 with the second piece of cardstock; attach the two pieces with double-sided tape.
