Eid Crescent & Star Garland

On the eve of Eid al-Fitr, string up this shimmering garland of paper crescent moons and stars. You can also create a double-garland by making the "Eid Mubarak" Circle Garland pictured right.

For this project, you can use storebought tassels and pom-poms or make your own! Learn how to tie a tassel and how to make pom-poms.

  • Light gold glittered cardstock
  • Purple pom-poms (3/4 inches)
  • Tassels with gold trim (2 inches)
  • Gold and white twine
  • Hole punch (1/16 inches)
  • Needle

  1. Print the template and cut five crescent moons and four stars; make two small holes at the top of each. (Tip: punching and threading two holes in this way helps to stabilize the garland and prevent it from twisting the wrong way around.)
  2. Thread needle with twine and thread garland, alternating between pom-poms, crescents, tassels and stars.
  3. Knot the ends, and hang to display.
  4. Optional: follow our directions to make the

    "Eid Mubarak" Circle Garland
