Chili Pepper Piñatas

These pint-sized piñatas double as party favors. Pop them open at your fiesta table to reveal a hidden treasure trove of candy.

  • Red cardstock
  • Crepe paper in dark red and green
  • Scissors
  • Masking tape
  • White glue
  • X-acto knife


  1. Use a premade template to trace two chili shapes on cardstock paper. Cut out two additional strips from the paper measuring 1" wide.
  2. With masking tape beginning assembling the piñata structure. Tape the strips all around the edge of one chili. Place the other chili on top of the structure and once more tape around the edge to secure.
  3. To decorate the front and back of the chili piñata, cut out red and green crepe paper strips about ½" wide; fringe all strips.
  4. To decorate the sides of the piñata, cut out red and green crepe paper strips about ¼" wide; fringe all strips.
  5. Begin gluing all fringed strips to the piñata working from the bottom up. Do the front and back first, then the sides.
  6. Use an x-acto knife to make a small opening in the piñata; fill with candy; close opening.
