Vintage Decor Stenciled Nightstand

Source: Martha Stewart

  1. Start with your base color. You can use any combination of vintage decor paints, but we started by painting the desk Brook.

  2. Once the base color is dry, paint a layer of sailor blue on top of your original coat of paint.

  3. Allow your second layer of paint to dry and then lightly sand away some of the top coat for a vintage look.

  4. Use the stencil tape to adhere your desired patterns to the surface of the nightstand.

  5. Load paint (we used Brook again) sparingly onto the brush and apply a thin layer paint. Add a second coat if desired.

  6. While paint is still wet, carefully peel off the stencil.

  7. Continue painting areas of the stencil according to your design. Let the paint dry completely before placing another stencil or color over it.

  8. Once stenciled designs have dried, use the cotton cloth to apply wax to the desk to seal and protect the paint.
