Wild cherry plums are tossed with sugar, then soaked in vodka for a sweet-tart cocktail garnish.
Poke plums with a fork and transfer to a lidded 1-quart jar. Sprinkle with sugar and pour in vodka. Cover with lid and shake. Let stand in a cool, dark place 2 weeks, shaking daily. Plums can be refrigerated in jar up to 6 months.
If you can't find cherry plums at your local farmers' market, you can substitute Italian prune plums or small black or red plums and cut them into halves or quarters (no need to poke them with a fork).
