How to Make Gift Boxes for Any Occasion

Source: Martha Stewart

materials

  • 12-x-12 kraft paper

  • Double-sided tape

steps

  1. Choose your desired gift box size and coordinating base. Align the base to the left side of your paper. Make sure that the cutting arm won't reach beyond the length of the paper.

  2. Score the top arch, bottom arch, and right edge of the tool with the embossing tool.

  3. Move the cutter on the arm to the correct position (position 1 for small, position 2 for medium, position 3 for large). Cut the top arch and bottom arch. For best results hold the template firm during cutting.

  4. Align left side of base with the right score line created in step 2. Now score the top arch, bottom arch, and right edge of the tool with the embossing tool.

  5. Position the cutting arm at the upper left edge of the template, matching the blade to the previous cut. Cut by pressing down on the cutting handle into the paper and rotate to the right until you reach the lower left corner of the template.

  6. Remove excess paper.

  7. Fold box and secure with double-sided tape.
