To make a quart of any of the following brews, bring the ingredients to a boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat; steep, covered, until the liquid cools to room temperature. Strain and reheat to serve. The brews can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Cinnamon and Orange
3 1/2 cups water + 3 cinnamon sticks + peel (without pith) and juice of 1 orange + 2 tablespoons turbinado sugar + 1/2 cup loosely packed fresh mint leaves
Turmeric and Lemon
3 1/2 cups water + 1/2 teaspoon turmeric + 3 tablespoons honey + peel (without pith) of 1 lemon + 2 tablespoons lemon juice + pinch of cayenne
Ginger and Lime
3 1/2 cups water + 1 cup thinly sliced fresh ginger + 1/2 cup agave nectar + 3 tablespoons lime juice
