Practice stamping letters on scrap leather to get a feel for how hard to hit stamp with mallet. Print template.
Trace template onto leather with a pencil.
Tape down 2 rulers, leaving just enough room between them for stamps. (For ours, the name begins 1/2 inch above center of tag; city name begins 1/2 inch below.)
Stamp letters, using mallet to hit each stamp just once for a clean impression (as opposed to repeated lighter hits).
Cut out shape and line on strap with craft knife. Make 2 holes on strap with screw punch.
