materials

  • 18-inch craft ring (Pictured: Floral craft ring, 18 inches, $5, michaels.com)

  • Poster board

  • 7-inch and 4.7-inch wooden cones (Pictured: Wooden cones, 7", $12.50 for 50, and 4.7", $16.50 for 100, bioandchic.com)

  • Hot-glue gun

steps

  1. Trace outer edge of ring onto a piece of poster board; cut out.

  2. Glue poster board to ring form.

  3. Position 7-inch cones to slightly exceed edge; hot-glue in place.

  4. To create second ring, stagger 7-inch cones and hot-glue them to first ring, tacking to each other as you go. Repeat with 4-inch cones, working toward center. The cones will gradually become more upright.

  5. Tack points of innermost cones to poster board as well as to each other. Let dry completely, about 5 minutes.
