Italian Brass Design wax seal from

  • Rubber gloves

  • Flexible clay mold

  • Conditioning machine

  • Polymer clay

  • Parchment paper

  • Baking sheet

  • Cookie cutters

  • Wax seals

  1. When handling unbaked clay, wear rubber gloves to minimize fingerprints and marks. Prepare a mold.

  2. Cut a 1/16-inch-thick piece of conditioned clay slightly larger than the desired size of the final piece.

  3. Press clay into mold, refrigerate for 15 to 20 minutes to harden, and invert onto a parchment-lined baking sheet; use a cookie cutter to create the border shape.

  4. In lieu of a mold, make impressions with wax seals. Press seal into a piece of conditioned 1/16-inch-thick clay, then cut out the image with a cutter that fits around impression.

  5. Remove excess clay, and bake on parchment.

  6. Use a pointed tool to make a hole before baking. Add a jump ring to make a pendant.
