Bespoke Touch

Appeal to their favorite hues and scents by mixing in food coloring and essential oils.

Melt and Pour soap base, in Clear, $3 a lb.,
Cylinder silicone baking mold, $10,

Add this crocheted loofah along with the soaps to make a hostess gift she is sure to remember.

  • Glycerin soap base

  • Microwave-safe 4-cup glass measuring cup

  • Food coloring

  • Essential oils (optional)

  • Silicone baking mold or metal muffin tin

  • Spray bottle

  • Rubbing alcohol

  1. Cut glycerin into cubes; place in measuring cup. Heat in microwave for 30 seconds; stir. Repeat until smooth throughout.

  2. Tint with 8 to 10 drops of food coloring. Stir to mix thoroughly. For scent, sparingly stir in essential oils.

  3. Pour glycerin into mold. To minimize bubbles on top, use spray bottle to spritz surface with alcohol. Let sit 4 hours. (If using a metal tin, put in freezer.) Remove from mold.
