Crocheted Loofah
A hand-crocheted washcloth (made with fique -- or pineapple -- yarn) takes this gift above and beyond.

Scrap in contrasting color

Crochet hook, size F
steps

Chain-stitch 32.

Row 1: Treble-crochet into fifth chin stitch from hook, then treble-crochet across row. Chain-stitch 4; turn.

Continue in treble crochet until you have worked 11 rows. Work should measure 7 1/2 inches.

Double-crochet around border, with 4 stitches in each treble row, working 2 double crochets into each corner stitch. For last edge, change to a contrast color if desired, and double-crochet across.

At end of last edge, chain 8 and stitch into last stitch to form a loop. Reinforce loop by singlecrocheting into chain.

Snip and weave in ends.
