Painted Pumpkins

For a quick, no-carve frontporch display, paint a bunch of small pumpkins in rich reds, purples, and golds.

Multi-Surface satin finish acrylic paint, by Martha Stewart Crafts, $2 for 2 oz.,


  • Craft brush

  • White craft paint

  • Pumpkins

  • Colored craft paint

  • Pressed leaves


  1. Start by priming each one with white acrylic paint; let dry.

  2. Then paint each pumpkin with a coat of your color of choice. Pressed leaves can be painted with one coat, too.

  3. After they’ve dried, arrange the leaves underneath the pumpkins on a mantle or bench, as shown.
