"Pickle guy" Rick Field of Rick's Picks began making pickles for fun in 1997 in his Brooklyn, New York, apartment. It started out of nostalgia for making and eating pickled "cukes" and dilly beans as a child; Rick started pickling with his parents in Vermont in the 1970s. It was just a matter of time before he realized there was no reason he couldn't do it in New York. All he really needed was a stove and a pot.
