Rugged and practical, bandannas seem almost patriotic, so this table runner is fitting for the Fourth of July. Because the edges of the bandanas are already finished, this easy sewing project requires no hemming.

To determine the number of bandannas you'll need, divide the desired length of your runner by the length of the bandanas. Press the bandannas, so they'll be easier to position and sew.
Lay one bandanna flat on a table. Fold down the bordered edge of a second bandana, and lay it on top of the first (right sides facing), aligning the patterns. Pin in place. Sew a running stitch across the underside where the patterns line up. Remove the pins, and trim excess fabric with pinking shears (leaving about 1/2-inch seam allowance). Press the seam open with the iron.
