Shower a new mother with this unique craft of baby essentials wrapped in a pretty arrangement. Use onesies, bibs, hats, socks, or a combination for "flowers" of varying size.
The Martha Stewart Show, October 2007
For sock roses, lie the socks out, overlapping one over the other. Roll socks from the toe into a tight role. Hold 3 small leaves around the edge of the bud. Tape with green gardening tape: tape from the top and spiral down until the bud is held in place. Twist wires together at bottom.
For a slightly larger flower, lie a baby hat flat with the top to the left. Fold the top down and bottom up to form a neat rectangle. Roll from top of hat, forming a tight bud. Add 3 paper flowers around edge. Start taping from top, spiraling down. Add 3 small leaves and continue taping all together. Finish tape at wires and cut tape. Twist the stems together.
Lie bib flat, with the bottom snapped. Fold bib in half to line up seams at top. Roll from end with snaps all the way along seam to form a tight bud. Add 3 paper flowers. Start taping from top, spiraling down. Add 3 small leaves and continue taping all together. Finish tape at wires and cut tape. Twist the stems together.
Lie T-shirt flat. Fold in half, putting seams together. Sart rolling from left to right to form a tight bud. Add 4 paper flowers. Start taping from top, spiraling down. Add 3 small paper leaves. Continue to tape until you reach the stems; cut tape.
Lie onesie flat. Fold in half, putting seams together. Roll tightly away from body to form 2 buds. Add 3 paper flowers to one bud and wrap tape around a couple of times; cut tape. Add 3 paper flowers to second bud and wrap tape around a couple of times. Continue wrapping tape around both buds. Combine 3 or 4 small paper leaves, twist stems together. Tape all the way down to the wires; cut tape. Twist wires together.
Add a large paper flower to each clothing bud, twisting stems together. Twist the stems of each clothing bud together, forming a bouquet. Put into small pail or wrap bunch with tissue paper and finish with ribbon.
