To make the place mats, cut brown kraft paper into 15-inch-square pieces. To create the home-plate shape, you can use our template or make your own: On one 15-inch piece of kraft paper, mark the center of three sides at 7 1/2 inches, and cut two of the sides on the diagonal so that they meet in a point at the center of the third side.
Tie a 15-inch length of leather string around each napkin, and place each on top of a plate.
Using a Sharpie pen, write each child's name on a baseball, and set one on top of each napkin.
Fill plain brown-paper bags with fresh peanuts (since no baseball game is complete without them), and place at each setting.

You can easily turn an ordinary table into a playing field with baseball table settings. Each setting includes a home-plate place mat, a napkin tied with leather string (resembling baseball-glove lacing), a peanut-filled brown-paper bag, and a real baseball place card -- festive favors for your guests.
