Affix two or three strips of double-sided tape to outside of glass. Press pine tips against tape to hold them upright.
Wrap green floral tape once around vase, using it to hold each new tip in place by looping tape over each pine tip as you attach it to the vase. Three layers of pine tips should be enough to make the ring of pine look full, wrapping tape around each layer. Clip pine stems so that they are even with the bottom of the vase.
Wrap twine around pine tips several times to hide floral tape, and tie in a knot. Set container in a shallow tray; add water to keep greens fresh. Float floral foam in a basin of water; after it sinks, put foam in vase. Fill vase halfway with water. Cut calla lily stems so they are just tall enough to emerge above the pine, and use enough to block any view inside the vase. Insert stems in foam for support. Any white flowers with simple shapes, such as roses or hyacinths, may be substituted for the lilies. (Calla lilies are thirsty, so refill vase daily.)
