From his humble beginnings as a 6-year-old with a seed packet of zinnias, Tony Bielaczyc went on to get his MFA at the University of Wisconsin. While working toward his degree, Tony gardened at the University's propagation greenhouses, and at the Allen Centennial Garden.

Tony moved from Madison, Wisconsin, to New York City, where he worked as a horticulturist at Battery Park City Parks for six years. Now the deputy garden editor at Martha Stewart Living, Tony has executed many magazines stories in his 11 years with the company, been a guest on Martha's various television shows, and worked with Andrew Beckman in Martha's gardens. You may also have heard him cohosting "Homegrown" on Martha Stewart Living Radio (Sirius 112 and XM 157).

So where does he get to practice what he preaches? Tony is involved with the Summit Street Community Garden in Red Hook, Brooklyn, which covers five city lots and has 30 active members. He also has been instrumental in developing the George Washington Carver Garden for Living for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. He loves a good vegetable garden, primulas, alpine gardens, and enjoys pruning (especially trees and roses).
