Abigail Breslin
Abigail Breslin was born April 14, 1996, and her big break came in 2002, when M. Night Shyamalan cast her as Mel Gibson's youngest daughter in his science-fiction hit "Signs." Abigail was then cast in "Little Miss Sunshine." Ultimate recognition came in early 2007, when Abigail garnered an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actress, making her the fourth-youngest actress ever nominated. In July 2007, Abigail visited Martha to make her great-great-grandmother's treasured recipe for nutmeg cookies; today she joins Martha to to make Valentine's Day Secret Messages and to talk about her new movie, "Definitely, Maybe," which open in theaters February 14.
Michael Laiskonis
As executive pastry chef at New York's four star Le Bernardin, Michael Laiskonis produces exquisite desserts that are an elegant balance of art and science. Recently awarded Outstanding Pastry Chef of 2007 by the James Beard Foundation, Michael is celebrated for signature desserts that gracefully layer textures and flavors. Today he joins Martha to make Warm Chocolate Cake and Malted Milk Chocolate Ice Cream.
Westminster Dog Show
David Frei hosted the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, which aired Monday, February 11, and Tuesday, February 12, on the USA Network. The Westminster Kennel Club's 132nd Annual Dog Show had 169 breeds and varieties represented. There were more than 2,600 entrants; the breed most represented was the labrador retriever (51) and the least represented was the Dandie Dinmont terrier (1). Westminster has been telecasting the show since 1948. Today, we meet Wishbone, the winner of the Frenchie: Best of Breed competition who won the award for the second straight year, and Uno, the Best in Show winner, a 2 1/2-year-old male Beagle.
