Author Michael Pollan
Michael Pollan grew up on Long Island, New York, and was educated at Bennington College, Oxford University, and Columbia University, from which he received a Master's in English. For the past 20 years, he has been writing books and articles about the places where the human and natural worlds intersect: food, agriculture, gardens, drugs, and architecture. A contributing writer to the New York Times Magazine and a Knight Professor of Journalism at University of California, Berkeley, Pollan is the author of numerous books, including "The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals" and "The Botany of Desire." His latest book, "In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto," which offers an eye-opening analysis of America's food consumption and its impact on our health and environment, was given as a gift to our studio audience. Today, he joins Martha with some valuable healthy eating advice and shares his recipe for Salmon Wrapped in Fig Leaves.

Crafter Emily Martin
Crafter Emily Martin, the top seller on the website etsy.com, a Brooklyn, New York-based online marketplace for all things handmade, is here to make her one-of-a-kind Black Apple Dolls. Find out more about Emily on her blog, Inside a Black Apple.
