Pillow Bands2 Ratings (See All)  Give plain sofa pillows vibrant personalities with easy-to-make pillow bands. These are made with wool; when the weather warms, they can be swapped for a more summery material, such as a cheerful printed cotton. To determine the size of the band, wrap a measuring tape around the pillow, and add 2 inches to the measurement. Cut fabric to desired length and width. If you're using a loosely woven fabric, pull a few threads along the long edges to fringe the sides. You also can finish the long sides with a 1/4-inch seam. Apply iron-on Velcro strips to the short sides, and fasten the bands around the pillows.
