French Countryside Baby Shower4 Ratings (See All) ![]() A baby shower is a time to marvel at some of the tangible and intangible facts of parenting. Guests offer blankets, bottles, and bibs along with the mystifying assurance that tiny people do, in fact, require so many things. Anyone, from a family member to a coworker -- but generally not the expectant parents themselves -- can host the event, which is usually held during the last two months of pregnancy. According to Jewish tradition, however, bestowing gifts upon a baby not yet born is thought to bring bad luck, so many Jewish couples prefer to have a baby shower after the birth. Typically, showers are held for first children only, but this is not a rule.
