Art-Supplies Organizer How-To
Just as a place mat keeps a table setting looking orderly, it can do the same for arts and crafts supplies. Convert one into a roll-up organizer that doubles as a carrying case. Place the mat on your work surface vertically for long supplies or horizontally for short ones. Fold bottom up about 4 or 5 inches; pin and sew the edges, sandwiching a folded piece of twill tape in one side for a tie. Using a ruler and a water-soluble marker, measure and mark pockets to fit your supplies; pin, and sew. Fold top down to make a flap. Iron, then topstitch, leaving a 1/8-inch seam allowance.
