Tree peony: Paeonia Shimane Cho Juraka

The tree peony, a relative of common herbaceous peonies, is a highlight of the spring garden. 'Shimane Cho Juraka' has fragrant, semidouble, lavender-pink flowers with near-black flares at the base of each petal and beautiful gold stamens. This dense, compact shrub with deeply lobed foliage derives its name from the Japanese expression for long life.
