A hybrid artemisia developed at Huntington Gardens in Pasadena, 'Huntington' matures into a bushy mound of deeply cut, silvery foliage. A good choice for dry, sunny sites in the garden, its color and texture make it an excellent choice in plant combinations. Wormwood is easy to care for and tolerates extreme summer heat but resents high humidity.

was a key ingredient in absinthe, a popular drink in the 1800s especially among writers and artists who believed it fostered creativity and free thought. One of absinthe's most famous users, painter Vincent van Gogh, was said to have cut off his ear while under its influence. Concerns about abuse of absinthe, which was said to cause hallucinations, epileptic fits, and delirium, prompted the French government to ban the drink in 1915.
