For leaf spot, remove affected plants and reduce soil moisture. Hose off aphids with a strong stream of water, spray with horticultural oil, or introduce beneficial insect predators. Handpick slugs and snails; use beer traps, or spread diatomaceous earth. For leaf miners, remove affected leaves. how to sow/plant:Start with new plants, or grow from fresh seed. Direct sow by scratching into soil once seed is ripe in summer. In early fall, thin or transplant to 3 feet apart.
