3-D Valentine's Day Accordion Card

If planning to mail the card, measure the envelope first and size the card accordingly (usually about 1/4 inch smaller all around). For the cleanest results, cut the paper with a craft knife on a self-healing mat (cut straight lines along a ruler). Some cards need the additional backing to conceal cuts or add weight; create a border by cutting the back piece slightly larger than the base, and layer patterned and solid papers.

Try the Popup Heart Card, Popup Proposal Card, 3-D Accordian Card, and Garland Card.

Resources: Paper and envelopes, Bone folder, screw punch, and craft knife, all by Martha Stewart Crafts, White ruler,

  1. Step 1

Print a template on card stock, cut, and trace onto the paper for the folded piece. (If making one card, print directly on desired paper.)

  2. Step 2

Fold along score marks. Then unfold, cut out, and refold.

  3. Step 3

Position the folded piece inside base card so it pops. Secure with double-sided tape.

over all this is such a cute idea. The only problem I had was trying to find the hand clip art that goes with the mail box. It doesn't seem to be available....

for those who can't open the files, they are pdf's which are downloaded. I just right click and open in new tab and they open immediately as a pdf.

LOVE these ideas! The mailbox template can be fun to send to loved ones far away too!

Also, why would a TickleMe Plant be a good Valentine's Day gift? In my opinion, unless 10 year olds are on Martha Stewart's website, that is a terrible idea.

I am trying to make the Train cards for my son to give out, but the train with 2 flat cars does not print out the same size as the photos in the magazine or on the website. And the paper it is printed on in the photos would have to be longer than standard paper. Any ideas on how to fix this?
